CONSINEE CASHGORA YARN

2021-09-10

The cashgora fibre comes from a cashmere-type goat that originates in the Pamir mountains that lie at the western junction of the Himalayas.

Cashgora goats come from crossbreeding angora (mohair) goats and cashmere-producing goats. The resulting fibre produces a yarn with the best qualities of each goat breed: strength and lustrous shine from angora with the unbeatable softness of cashmere. Cashgora ranges between 18 and 23 microns, similar to the softness of merino wool. This yarn is durable, less prone to pilling than cashmere, with a beautiful drape and natural recovery.

Cashgora fibre is a sustainable renewable resource – protecting the goat during the harsh winters but naturally shed when no longer needed in the spring. It is a very unique and scarce fibre with the average yield of approximately 400 grams or 14 ounces of combed fiber per goat. This scarcity and uniquely special properties make cashgora yarns a highly sought after and exclusive fibre for luxury knitwear.
